Most of our work sits under confidentiality, so the notes below describe the problem, the approach and the outcome without naming clients or figures they would not want in public. We can be specific under NDA.
Denmark and the Nordics
Offshore, with the people who built the industry.
Our Nordic work runs with Danish developers, engineering houses and test facilities. Three patterns repeat.
Owner's engineering through execution. Design review and interface management across foundations, array cables and offshore substations for a multi-hundred-megawatt programme, including factory acceptance and installation campaign support. The value showed up in avoided rework: interface issues found at review rather than offshore.
Cable failure investigation. Root cause work on repeated array cable faults, combining electrical records, installation data and metallurgical analysis. The finding changed a burial specification rather than a cable supplier, which was not the expected answer.
Test and qualification support. Instrumented trials with a Danish test facility on a component qualification programme, where our optics group supplied the measurement chain.
Germany
Private sector industrial decarbonisation.
German industrial groups and Mittelstand manufacturers make up the largest part of our client base by number. The work is concrete and usually starts on site.
Process heat conversion study. For a manufacturer with furnaces at the centre of the process: technology options, utility and grid implications, cost per tonne of product under several power price paths, and a sequencing plan built around existing maintenance windows.
Hydrogen supply assessment. Whether to produce on site, contract domestically or import a derivative, examined against certification requirements, storage constraints and the realistic timing of connection upgrades.
Flexibility as a revenue line. Identifying which industrial loads could be moved, what that costs in production terms, and what the resulting flexibility is worth in current market arrangements. For one client the answer was that the value was real but the contract structure was not yet available, which we said plainly.
North Africa
Mega projects, and the things that decide them.
We support gigawatt-scale solar and storage programmes in North Africa for owners, lenders and public authorities. These are long programmes with many counterparties, and the engineering is rarely the binding constraint.
Programme direction. Multi-workstream delivery covering land, permitting, interconnection, procurement and local content, with reporting that satisfies both a ministry and a lender.
Interconnection and export. Technical and commercial assessment of export routes, including what the receiving European system can absorb and when, which usually reframes the project timeline.
Operations readiness. Soiling, thermal derating and water constraints modelled from measured site data rather than regional averages, then carried into the operations and maintenance plan.
We staff these programmes from Frankfurt with regional partners, under our standard export-control and end-use screening.
European consortia
Nine active programmes.
We sit in European research and demonstration consortia as technical partner and, increasingly, as coordinator. The work spans grid and storage demonstration, instrumentation for energy assets, materials for conversion and storage, and cross-border system studies.
What we bring is the industrial end of the table: an operator's perspective on what a demonstrator has to survive, the engineering case behind the work packages, and a route from deliverable to product.
The administrative side is handled in-house. Reporting, timesheet discipline, cost claims and audit preparation are run by our programmes team rather than outsourced, which is why our partners keep asking us to coordinate.
